Louis Jacquot’s work adresses painting through processes of repetition, translation, citation, and displacement. Rather than treating the artwork as an autonomous object, he approaches painting as a system of relationships between images, materials, places, and people.
Drawing, painting, photography, mirrors, and installation function as interconnected tools within a practice that examines how forms circulate, mutate, and acquire meaning through use. His work often originates from everyday observations, studio fragments, found situations, or personal archives, which are then subjected to successive transformations that blur distinctions between original and copy, reference and invention, image and object.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2020, Jacquot has developed a body of work that challenges traditional notions of authorship and pictorial authority. Through subtle shifts of scale, support, display, and context, his works invite viewers to engage physically as well as visually, transforming painting into an experience of attention, proximity, and shared presence.
He lives and works in Paris.
His work has been exhibited in galleries, project spaces and institutions including most recently Biblioteca Vasconcelos (CDMX), Clearing gallery (Basel), Pace gallery (Seoul) and Villa Magdalena (San Sebastian).
